About Us

Hello!

My name is Heidi. Je suis mariée and the mother of the two most wonderful little people I know, Hannah and Halley. I’m American and my values are innovation, entrepreneurship, and thriftiness. I like being mindful of everything I use, while now and again indulging myself with something pretty or extravagant. Above all, I love an adventure. My life is an adventure and my journey has brought me to Kidz Kraft.

One early Sunday morning in February 2009, I woke up with a vision of a place that care givers and educators alike could come to for clever craft ideas that included the project supplies to make them. I wanted to save educators energy by providing them with new craft ideas and I wanted save them time from having to source the supplies to make the project. And I wanted to save them money by imploring economic use of the supplies. It would be a “Craft Lesson Plan in a box”!

While I was doing market research for Kidz Kraft, and I found several educational experts who echoed my ideas about the role arts & crafts play in child development. After reading research papers and comparing with my own observations of how our society is dealing with the education system, it became apparent to me that our education system is becoming increasingly focuses on rewarding fact recollection. It seems that Arts & Crafts are an easy target within the budget cuts that our education system suffers from. But in fact, Arts & Crafts teach children creative and analytical skills they will need to answer real world problems, such as global warming and terrorism.

At that moment, I realized, I really HAVE TO do this! As society asks more and more from our educators and since we are the “crafting professionals”, we are the perfect people to provide craft lesson plans. We can share our craft lesson plans with everyone who concerns themselves with child development. In turn educators and care givers would have one less worry, and they could be more available to do what they do best. Loving our children. We thank you for that.
